Registration Fee:

Registration fee is $150.00 for the first type of animal and $50.00 for each additional species. That is also the renewal fee for 10 years. In the past, all brands were renewed every ten years in years ending with a five (1995, 2005, etc). Renewals took place in the first two months of the year. After the 2005 renewals, the state is moving to a staggered renewal so that every 2 years, about 20% of the brands will renew. The renewal fee charged in 2005 will be pro-rated for those brands designated to renew before the next 10 year period. Brands not renewed by March 1st of their renewal year will be considered abandoned and may be lost to the original owners.

Sale or Transfer:

Registered brands may be sold or transferred by the owner. There is a $50.00 transfer fee.

Penalties:

Criminal and financial penalties are prescribed for violations of the regulations including using an unrecorded similar brand or using someone else's brand. Use of unregistered brands is not allowed.

Proof of Ownership:

Certified copy of Brand ownership provides prima facia evidence of ownership of branded livestock.
