Reading Cattle Brands

Reading Cattle Brands is pretty simple if you just have to know a couple of rules. In the same way that we read the English language from left to right, and from top to bottom; Cattle Brands are read the same way:

  • Read a brand from left to right,
  • Read a brand from top to bottom, and finally,
  • Read a brand from outside to inside when the brand has a character than encloses another
  • Shown below are some simple examples of cattle brands and how to read them.
